Fitness Special Events & Programs

We are always looking for creative ways to get people active and healthy. Check out some of the upcoming events and programs. Most require registration, so make sure to sign-up to reserve your spot!

  • Registration: Register online or in-person at The Grove Aquatic & Fitness Center Guest Services Desk. Registration for classes is available any time, but participants must register at least one week in advance of the event start date. There is a $10 late fee for registrations after the deadline.

Special Events

Active Aging Week  I  Sept. 30-Oct. 4  I  FREE!

Join us as we celebrate a week-long effort to inspire wellness and promote the benefits of a healthier, more active lifestyle. Try out a free class, listen to a guest speaker, enjoy healthy snacks, or find small ways to get more active.

Activities will be planned for the entire week, check back often!  Location: Most activities held in the VMCC, unless otherwise noted.

WALKtober Challenge  I  Oct. 1-31  I  $5/member; $10/non-member

Walk 2 miles per day for 31 days! Walk and log your mileage from Oct. 1-31. Complete 62 miles and earn a WALKtober 2019 t-shirt!

Prizes are awarded throughout the month for motivational support. Log your miles outside, at home, or on the walking track or a treadmill at the VMCC.* An interactive spreadsheet and/or paper log sheet will be provided. Walkers report miles at the end of each week by email.

Members-only Holiday Challenge

We challenge you to maintain or lose weight during the holiday season. We’ll weigh you in at the start of the challenge and weigh out at the end. All those that maintain or lose weight will receive a workout towel. Grove gift cards will be awarded to the top three people that lose the largest percentage of weight.

Register and weigh in between Nov. 21-27; Weigh out between Jan. 2-6. Register by Wednesday, Nov. 20:

Back to School Personal Training Special  I   Sept. 20-30

Food & Fitness 

Trainers help you educate yourself to make better food choices, set goals and be accountable in class and online. And learn a different type of low-impact workout each week. Class will be 30 minutes of education and goal setting and 30 minutes of fitness.

Stand Up Paddleboard  (SUP) Fitness Series  I  Ages 12 and up SamaSTE

3 Fitness Series includes a basic class (to learn and build confidence on the paddleboard; a fitness class (to take the skills to the next level); and a yoga class (where yoga poses will be done on the board).

Practice centering and gain confidence standing on the board. You'll experiment with balance, learn strength moves and/or Yoga poses on the board while working in your comfort zone. You choose the class that is right for you! Plus, a great class to meet new people and make friends! Taught by Brown Dog Paddleboard.

*Paddleboards are provided. Participants must know how to swim. This class is not meant for participants to be fully-immersed in the water. Participants are able to get on and off the boards from the side of the lap pool. Participants may get wet, however.
