Warning Sirens

In Dakota County, including Inver Grove Heights, outdoor weather sirens are tested the first Wednesday of every month at 1:00 PM. Along with the monthly testing, even though there may be no severe weather, sirens are sounded annually, two additional times in April.

Every year, the State of Minnesota designates one week in April as Severe Weather Awareness Week. On the Thursday of that week, two state-wide tornado drills are held. Dakota County participates in these drills, which includes sounding the sirens at both 1:45 PM and 6:45 PM. In addition, NOAA weather radios will also sound at those same times.
